During its regular meeting on Thursday, February 27, 2025, the Doddridge County Board of Education—President Chad Evans, Vice President Denver Burnside, and members Laura Cottrill, Justin Holtz, and Leslie Underwood—toured district school facilities to gain firsthand insight into daily operations and educational initiatives.

The visits provided board members with an opportunity to observe staff responsibilities and student learning experiences, reinforcing their commitment to enhancing opportunities for all Doddridge County students. Highlights of the tour included interactions with the Doddridge County High School (DCHS) Bark Club, engagement with the district’s youngest learners at the Doddridge County Early Learning Academy (DCELA) and Doddridge County Elementary School, and participation in STEAM-related activities.

As part of the tour, board members also visited the Bulldog Bistro, where they enjoyed a meal prepared and served by Chef Benson and her ProStart students. This experience highlighted the hands-on learning opportunities available through the district’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program.

Superintendent Scott Cochran emphasized the value of these visits, stating, “Providing our board members with direct exposure to classroom activities and school operations helps bridge the gap between policy decisions and real-world impact. Their engagement ensures we continue making informed choices that support student success.”

Board President Chad Evans echoed this sentiment, adding, “Seeing our educators and students in action is always inspiring. These visits reinforce our dedication to maintaining a learning environment that is both supportive and innovative.”

By regularly touring school facilities, the Board of Education remains actively involved in the district’s progress, ensuring students and staff have the resources and support needed to thrive.
